I am presently working on a 2008 Honda CRV A/C problem and need a little help, I replaced the compressor and separator and want to know where or access to the expansion valve. Need a little help finding it.

OK need a little help!

This is for a 2008 Honda CRV. The a/c system would work when it was on a cold start then once the car worms up it would stop cooling.

I changed the A/c compressor PAG46 oil, the expansion valve, flushed the evaporator, replaced the condenser, Flushed all the lines and installed a new dryer sock and pulled a vacuum for about an hour recharged with 1lb 5oz and it is doing the same thing.

The compressor and fans are on and running then both cut off and then come back on (cycling). The low side is around 25/30 and the high side is fluctuating around 150/200 then the high side begins to climb to 300 and the low side is around 25.

What am I missing?? It is acting like it has a blockage but for the life of me I am unable to find it.

 

have you checked to see if the thermister in the blower airduct area is good. if you go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and put your car info in, you will find item 22 the thermister. this can cause the system to blow cold then warm air, then cold, it looks like a spring with conductive material (green in color on mine).

 

Thanks for the input. I am having trouble finding that item 22 Thermister. I went to the page mentioned but unable to find it do you have a part number?

 

Well I found the problem it was a clogged condenser it was restricting the flow and so the high pressure was excessive. I found it by taking a temperature in all 4 corners of the condenser as the a/c system was on. The top left was 142 top right 76 bottom left 79 and bottom right 84 after the exchange it was in the 80 all the way around. Why did I replace the expansion valve that is where I thought the stoppage was and is often where it is. As for the compressor replacement I was told it was diagnosed to be bad! I will never do that again I will diagnose it myself the next time.

If the a/c is going off and on put a set of gauges on it and if the high side is bouncing and going well above 250/300 look for a blockage.

I hope this helps others. A note to others Do not use stop leak in the a/c system just fix the leak!
