Hi I have a low mileage 2004 honda civic coupe. The car will not come out of park and the brake lights will not come on. Everything else works fine. It turns on fine and my dad had a look at the transmission and he said it looks fine as well. In my car book it mentioned something about a gear shift solenoid? Can anyone tell me what this problem might be. I have looked around and seen that other honda civic owners have had this problem as well. It is electrical? Or a sensor or something? Please help!

 

Okay we fixed it. Whew!!!! For anyone else that has this problem my dad and I fixed it by replacinga blown 15amp fuse in the fuse box.

Thanks guys! This worked for me as well on a 2004 CR-V. I replaced the brake bulb on one side, and when I went to test it, lights wouldn't come on and couldn't get out of park.

Replaced the Horn/Stop 15 amp fuse and it worked like a charm.

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be a broken wire on the brakelight switch.
