Default 1996 honda accord 5 speed

I have a 1996 accord 5 speed manual and when i put it into any gear it wont move, ill let out on clutch and give gas but it will just stall out. When the shifter is in neutrual it will drive like it were in gear. What could it be?

It's probably hung in 2 gears.

By hung in 2 gears, I'm meaning that the trans might be in BOTH 2nd and 3rd gear at the same time, since they're on seperate shifting cables. What's happening is when you release the clutch (taking your foot off it), you're allowing the engine to drive the trans input shaft, it in turn is trying to drive the rest of the gears that are engaged. If you have 2 gears trying to be driven at the same time, the engine can't "over ride" them, so it stalls. To fix this, you have to manually re-set the shifter linkages to neutral.
