I would probably check the crankshaft seals, its a hassle to fix. You would need to take the timing belt cover off to get to it

i have a 2003 civic

everytime i attempt to turn the car on, it makes a ticking noise and whining sort of noise, yesterday i replaced the starter with a refurbished one i bought a couple of months ago how ever the car still has the same problem.

also everytime i turn on my headlights and proceed to turn on my radio, slide the windows down, turn on ac, the headlights slightly dimmer down, could this be an alternator problem?

i also bought a battery and cleaned the connection cables about a month ago so i dont think thats the problem.

please help!

fyi the car takes a couple of tries to turn on, yesterday after school i spent 15 minutes trying to get it to turn on

I took it to the shop that I always go to and told them that it was the crank shaft seal (about 400 dollars shop costs for a four dollar seal). They told me it was my actual oil pan so they welded that and it still leaks. I agree that it is most likely the crankshaft seal which is underneath the timing belt. Good luck.

Default Decisions

Hi, I'm going to buy my first civic and I'm having a hard time deciding on what to get. I've looked at 2 different ones and can't pick. One is a very clean ek hatch with a boosted b20b non vtec and the other is an eg hatch with a jdm b18c type r motor. Here are the links to the cars: https://offerup.com/item/detail/798159833/

Default Civic motor swap

Need a little help. I have a 2003 civic coupe with a 1.7. Trying to put a 2.2 VTEC out of a prelude. Anybody got any suggestions?

welcome to the forum you will need to adapt the front engine compartment from the prelude into the civic chassis, and piggy back the ecu from the prelude into the civic ecu. or modify the civic front chassis to accept the 2.2l engine. lots of money, time and can you weld.
