Default bf115 tilt/trim assembly

2003 BF115A: While cleaning/servicing the boat out of water, I have noticed a leak from the starboard side of the trim/tilt assembly (its leaking down the transom). I suspect the O-ring between the Oil reservoir and the main body of the assembly. Since this motor is now 13 years old, even if it's just that one O-ring, I am guessing that it would pay to rebuild/replace the assembly. I am seeing quotes in the $1900 range to replace with new.

Anyone out there with any experience with this issue? What seems to be the best solution:
1) Buy new replacement - OUCH! (something like 40% of the cost of the motor, new!)?
2) Buy rebuilt unit - anyone know where to get one?
3) Get local dealer to rebuild?
4) Buy parts, special tools and DIY?

Thoughts?

Thanks.
