Default heating problem and radiator?

Hi - I'm new to this forum and actually new to forums in general but I have a 2006 Honda Pilot problem whereby a mechanics advice (post inspection) sounded rather odd after I search information on line.
My 2006 Honda Pilot (i'm only owner) has had a problem this year with the heat only heating the car when car was moving. It's only got 60K miles and this is first year that has happened, but post inspection, the mechanic indicated something complicated with the result being that there was a leak and I'd need a new radiator. With labor - one day of work - total around $500 - does this sound right to you folks?
