02 crv condenser fan runs constantly

My cooling fan doesn’t work (jumped with power on pigtail) so I think it is bad but my condensing fan runs all the time if I hook up temp switch on radiator. If I unplug the temp switch it operates correctly, coming on only with the a/c. Do I have another problem with that fan or is the temp switch bad or is there cross wiring somewhere?

Ground?

Which ground?
temp switch, condenser fan, or cooling fan?

grcauto 12-13-2023 09:47 AM

You want to test the fan motor you need power and GROUND to test.

I was jumping with a hot and ground from battery, sorry about the miscommunication. Any ideas on the condenser fan running constant ( turns on as soon as I turn the key on) when the temperature switch is plugged in?

I’d probably check to see if the temp switch was stuck on.

The AC fan may have a stuck relay. If you applied power and ground to the other fan and it did nothing the fan motor has open windings and needs to be replaced.

Swapped relays no change, but if I unplug the temperature sensor on the radiator it comes on and off with the a:c switch. Do I replace the sensor or is there something else wrong in the wiring?

To me it sounds like the radiater temp switch is shorted providing constant ground.
