2000 crv Tranny slipping
Hi, first timer, new to forum. Aamco has confirmed the trans is slipping, nothing external can be repaired to fix symptoms. 190,000 trouble free miles, best car we have ever owned. My question for you all, should I repair/rebuild current car transmission, or... there are some lower mileage honda crv's for sale, many have more options than our current car. I welcome your input.

welcome to the forum. With our economy as it is. The least cost is to fix the car that is paid for. but make sure there is a good warranty with it. If you want to spend money above the repair of the trans. then get a newer up dated vehicle.

Welcome to the forum ,I understand your problem and it's good to ask advice from others. First ,you know the car better than anyone and if it is in good shape with no other problems, and I'm sure it is ,I would go with a rebuild,190k miles from a trans. is pretty good, just make sure the motor has no issues before dropping money for a trans. If you buy another car you are taking a chance that that car may also need a trans in the near future along with other unseen problems. The only way I would go newer is if there was a good warranty attached .Good luck,Bobby

Thanks for your input. I think I have decided to have our current car trans rebuilt. I know the background of my car versus someone's else's unknown.

I think that would be wise. I just did a little research on what Honda charges for a reman trans. and was shocked at $4K to $5K. I just dropped $3500.00 on a trans for my F-350 Diesel and thought that was bad. Well knowing the reliability of the Honda I would say that that was not that bad, besides you maybe able to get a low milage used one for less than half.
