2009 CR-V couldn’t accelerate and shut down on highway

Hi Folks,

Last week (Jan 5 2021) I purchased a 2009 Honda CR-V EX with 250,000 km.
It ran BEAUTIFULLY for the first 3 days, no sounds no hesitations, did not feel like a car with that amount of KM on it.

While accelerating to merge onto a highway (5000 + RPM) I suddenly felt it hesitating and “pulling back” on me as I was accelerating. I took my foot off the accelerator and it cruised. Put my foot back on to keep my speed and it pulled back and started to slow down.
Now realizing something is horribly wrong and I have no way to accelerate I put the hazard lights on, put the car in neutral and try turning it off and back on again.
Nothing.
At this point the car is going 30km on a highway posted at 90km and I CAN’T accelerate.
Pulled off, turned the car off and tried turning it back on.
It started up, revved for a second and then the RPM dropped to zero and it stalled.
Had to get the thing towed to a shop.
The mechanic took a look at it and says that the only issue showing up is a problem with the mass air flow sensor however that wouldn’t cause an issue like this to occur.

Could this be related to the Throttle Position Sensor? The only thing I did differently in driving the thing over 3 days was that I was heavier on the accelerator in order to complete a merge.
Wondering if anyone has had this issue with the 2009 CR-V, as I haven’t seen much online or on CarComplaints.

Thank you in advance for any information!

Sometimes idle air control or EGR will cause this issue
Would clean them out.
What does your mechanic say?
