2014 crv first oil change

I have been hearing different things about this. What do you guys recommend as a time frame to change the oil the first time. This car is rarely driven by an older lady. I have seen some say when the maint minder gets to 20%. Also, synthetic or not. I read on a honda dealership page that Honda does not recommend fully synthetic. Lastly, whats the best way to reset the maint minder? Thanks for any help.

welcome to the forum. honda service mgr says change the oil at 20% maint minder. to reset the maint minder refer to the owners manual, it will tell you how to do it. on my honda Fit, honda changed my first oil change for free. there after I changed i myself and used syn mobil 1 sae 5-20. got 215k now. Get yourself a service manual and save a lot of money doing some work yourself. "Honda Service Manual"

Thanks acmech52. This is my moms car that replaced a 2001 crv. I try and do all of our preventative maintenance I can to our cars. I have always used conventional Castrol oil and went by the 3mo/3000 mile intervals. I was planning on putting mobil 1 syn in her 2014 after reading about it. What made me question using it was that dealership faq page saying they did not recommend it and also thought it was strange that mobil 1 had "suitable " for honda and toyota written on their 0w-20 cans. Thats the weight I was going to use. Anyway, thanks again for the info. Im going to plan on using synthetic.
