2018 Honda CR-V Loud Humming Noise Between 25 and 65 MPH

My 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L makes this loud humming noise most noticeable between 25 and 50 MPH. This noise have been a persistent issue since new. However, Pensacola Honda in Florida, Tameron Honda in Daphne, Alabama, and most recently Braman Honda in Miami, Florida “haven’t be able to replicate” nor provide an explanation of what causing the issue.

Additionally, at 32,00 miles, the original tires were so worn down that I had tp purchase new all season tires because it was unsafe to to operate the vehicle. In this case, the local dealer (Pensacola Honda and Tameron Honda, respectively) nor Honda America and/or Hankook Tires took responsibility on the fact that the original tires were bad to begin with and offer no replacement under warranty.

I’ve recently lifted the vehicle. When the front tires were lifted and operated at same speeds described above, no noise was heard. Respectfully request comments on possible causes. Unfortunately for me, this is probably is the last Honda vehicle I’ll ever purchase, as I’ve been a loyal customer since 2004. Because of this issue, I’m not able to ever recommend Honda vehicles again!

Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

welcome to the forum. if your car is out of warranty, dealership will not do anything they do not have to. it sounds to me like wheel out of alignment. get a 4 wheel alignment, and ask the alignment shop to check how far off the alignment is before and after. have you been rotating your tires every 5-7k miles. were your last tires worn on the inside, outside, middle, one side only, edges cupping, or worn like a wedge. Honda cars do not come out of the factory with an alignment, you need to get it done your self. if the car is in warranty, get the dealership to fix the noise did you take any pictures of your tire ware.

ACMESH52 - Thank you for your response. I didn’t know that Honda vehicles don’t come out of the factory without a 4 wheel alignment. Wow! The factory set of tires, to the best of my recollection, wore out evenly; but that seems like a lifetime ago. I do pay for a tire rotation every oil change. Not doubting that the rotation is taking place, I’ll trust and verify next time around. I’ll be taking the car to the shop for a four wheel alignment and a balancing verification next weekend, and take it form there. If that doesn’t do it, I’ll probably reach out to Tire Rack and ask to opine on the matter. Let’s see where this journey takes me. Wish me luck. Thanks again for advice and time!

Factory tires wearing out after 32,000 is not unusual. They do not put the best ones on at the factory. I hope you didn't replace them with the same tires. As to the noise, I would never put up with that on a new car for 3 years. If you can document the dates during the warranty period that you brought it in for that with no resolution I would contact Honda America directly to see if it can be resolved.

Update?

The noise could have been from the tires??
I had an intermittent humming and it was due to a bad wheel bearing

It was indeed that the car was never in alignment off the dealership. Too bad that Honda does this. I think this is the last time I will buy a Honda. I took it to the shop and the noise was significantly reduced. Still there, but a lot less noticeable.

Ridiculous!!!

jiramirez Most all factory new cars do not come with an alignment, not only Honda. due to expense and time cost.
