2019 Oil change
 

I don't think I ever saw this in any vehicle owners manual in the past. I have always changed my own oil in my cars. (Right out of the owner's manual)

You must change the engine oil and oil filter regularly in order to maintain the
engine's lubrication. The engine may be damaged if they are not changed regularly.
Specialized equipment and procedures are required to change the engine oil and oil
filter. Have an authorized Honda dealer replace them.
Do not attempt to change the engine oil and oil filter yourself.


Also, I don't see any mileage requirements for oil changes. The owners manual says to change the oil when the Maintenance Minder message indicates your oil life is at 15% or If a Maintenance Minder indicator does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year. All vehicles I have had also gives you a MAXIMUM mileage you can drive in between oil changes. ie……..12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Conventional oil requires changing more often or after fewer miles than synthetic.
So, some manufacturers don't specify mileage. Only that the oil must be changed.
Honda goes by mileage.

oil change can go up to 13k between oil change. not recommended, so oil life if used. approx 7500 miles between oil and filter change.

I change it myself in my 2017 CRV 1.5 turbo. A buddy of mine helps me out and I just invite him to lunch. Much cheaper than going to the dealer plus I have had zero issues changing my oil 1 time per year using this:

The dealerships want to make money. I have even seen blogs (written by dealerships) warning about going over 5K when some vehicles can go way over this with zero issues. In a year I drive around 12k-15k. In my previous vehicle I used the same oil for a decade and it lasted past 150K miles when I sold it. I noticed that I am not spending time paying for unecessary services at the dealer since I dropped them like a bad habit. Many people disagree with me and my cousin who is a mechanic calls me crazy, but a decade doesn't lie and I have been doing this in my CRV for a few years now. (No offense to dealerships but it is what it is).

There is nothing wrong with changing your oil when ever you feel it is time, only difference you have now is there is a turbo involve. turbos run hot, oil in the turbo lubrication system gets very hot if on a long hot run. the longer you let your oil go, the more the turbo lubrication line coke's up. i have encountered ford t-bird/ turbo with 50k freeze up due to excessive oil line clog. but still can be driven. i have seen a honda accord with 225k miles with the valve cover off, and never an oil change, just add as needed to keep full. oil drain lines about 1/8" in diameter.(normal 1/2") no smoke out the exhaust. just a heads up, make sure you keep a record of oil changes and used in the event you need to claim a warranty. Honda will ask if anything in the lubrication system fails, they would like to view the records and milage. at least for 36k or 3 yrs if that is the factory warranty.

Running a car for ten years without an oil change??

sorry for the late reply and misunderstanding, I change my oil 1 time per year for 10 years in a previous vehicle using the same brand ... yea 1 oil change in 10 years would be extremely lucky not to burn out the engine.
