Default Amazing Highway MPG

We returned yesterday from a short trip from Dallas to Oklahoma City. I maintained a constant 70 MPH on Interstate 35 and the car's computer indicated 37.5 MPG going and 38.5 returning. The difference is that on the return leg we had a tailwind and Oklahoma City is 1200 ft. above sea level and Dallas is 600 ft above sea level which probably didn't affect the MPG as the wind. I ran the car the entire time in the ECON mode and it performed admirably. It took more gas pedal to accelerate and merge with freeway traffic but the car did just great.

We have only had the car a couple of moths and the drivetrain amazes me in fuel economy and smoothness. The CVT in the two wheel drive CRV is even smoother than the one in my 2013 Accord EX L coupe.

I have to agree, the drive train is awesome. When we drive the accord, we are disappointment now with the shifting and resulting engine rpm ramps, however, the accord is fuel miserly also. Took the crv to Florida and was amazed at the fuel economy compared to our old 2007 CRV EX-L

My 2013 Accord drivetrain is identical and I can't tell any difference. The Accord is a Coupe and handles differently and the CRV rides smoother. My wife drives more city streets and is getting 27 to 29 MPG and I drive about 60% highway and get 29 to 31 MPG. Obviously the Coupe is more aerodynamic and has less drag than the CRV.

While on the subject of fuel, be sure to only use Top Tier rated gasoline. These are direct fuel injected engines and keeping the fuel injection system clean is very important.

My '15 CRV will also indicate mid-30's, even on a city/highway mix. I use the "info" screen and watch the MPG curve upward as the trip miles increase. It's amazing, almost to the point of being incredible. Now if they'd just come up with a fix for the rattle at startup, it would be a near-perfect car!
