Bad Fuel Consumption and 2 codes P04055 & P04056 in 2009 EX CRV

Hello Pals.

I just joined the CRV family, even though I've been a Honda user since 1986. Never used a Toyota or any other brand.

I recently got a CRV 2009 EX CRV. I acquired the car here in Nigeria on 20th July, 2018
Mileage was 141,358
Did a VIN check and found car was flooded in Texas sometime in 2016
I saw the car working in Nigeria, fully fixed with no CEL, no misfire and transmission selects normally.

Issue the car has is that it consumes gas badly.
Filled the car to the brim on 1st August, 2018 with 68 liters and i only drove 210 miles and the Empty indicator is back on.
No any emission related issue code throne.
I did a test by pulling out the socket of the O2 sensor to know if the sensor is working. it threw a check and i restore it back, check went off

The second issue is that whilst heading home from work yesterday, as i started the car, it threw a check. I scanned and found P04055 and P04056. Checked for leaks and cap issues none found.

Can you guys please help me out so I don't regret joining the CRV club?

Thanks

welcome to the forum. may have to change the gas cap. also after checking the gas cap, it takes a few runs before the light goes back off. when was the last time the car was tuned up. spark plugs, wires, valve adjustment, etc. and are your tires at 32-36 psi. do you run your a/c all the time.

Thanks for your response.

I intend doing a tune up this saturday.
Already ordered

new 02 sensors
set of injectors
fuel pump
iridium spak plugs, after the fix, i'll update you.

As regard the possible air leak, I cleared the codes and stared driving the car. This morning, i got fuel cap sign of the dash indicator. What?

your 2 sensors must be honda only, also trans fluid must be honda only. the aftermarket sensors will work from 1 week to 3 months then fail. may need a new cap, and a few runs to rid the fuel cap sign on the dash.

Thanks pals.

I cleared the code on Monday 5th August, 2018. Today, 9th August, 2018 the two codes are back. I mean P04055 and P04056.

I'm damned confused

have you replaced your fuel cap to new.

Just as Honda says after 100k miles, do a tune up. Mileage 140k now

So we decided to do few things on Saturday
Changed spark plugs to NGK iridium
Changed fuel pump
Changed injectors
Changed the upstream and downstream sensors.

After fixing, car started fine and was sharper and drives faster than it was prior.

After few minutes drive, a code showed up P1157, which points to Upstream sensor. Cleared code, but it instantly pumped up again.

I then suggested we return the old sensor, since nothing was wrong with it.

We tried to remove sensor 1, only to find it difficult, cos the guy that fixed it forced the sensor in and the threading got damaged on the exhaust pipe. We had to use the heat to pull out the sensor, which was obviously condemned and the threading on the exhaust pipe damaged.

Since we need to buy a new sensor and possibly get another pipe that connects to the manifold, the exhaust guy decided to block the hole/space where the sensor fits into

After leaving the exhaust fixer, just few minutes drive, car started misfiring.

Did a scan and it shows P0300 to P0304 all cylinder misfires, along with the obvious oxygen sensor code.

Car is not idling at all now.

Once you start, it goes off immediately and terrible black smoke comes from the exhaust.

Can you guys confirm if the oxygen sensor issue is connected with the misfire

Thanks
