Disk Brake Question
Hi,
Have a 2019 CRV. My front passenger tire hit the base of a narrow bridge crossing causing the Tire Pressure Warning indicator to come on. Checked the tires - all were fine and reset the tire pressure monitor but noticed the clips sticking out on the wheel that hit the bridge base. Can anyone tell me what this is? Car seems to drive fine but this is the only wheel that looks like this. Thanks very much - Mike https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/hondafo...84dc94df98.jpg |
Check the opposite wheel. If the opposite wheel has the same "clip", don't worry, if not - investigate more.

Thanks

Hm... As I understand, that radiused part of them "clip" should be "sitting' under the caliper bracket. I can't imaging how it could snap from that (assumed) position. Is it possible that this clip was installed this way during last brake job?

RIght, clips are under the caliper bracket on all other wheels. When my front tire came into contact with the bottom metal plank on a narrow bridge, it set off the Tire Pressure indicator and I assume it is what dislodged the clip in the picture. I was posting to inquire if this was something that required immediate attention or could I just wait until my next inspection.
Car seems to drive fine and didn't notice any issues with the braking. Thanks |
What is the purpose of these "clips"? Looks like, the purpose is to push brake pad. This "loose" "clip" may come out, because of vibration and fly away from the wheel or get stuck somewhere.

Yeah, that is an anti-rattle clip for the brake pads. Seems like coincidence that one was put in wrong or popped out of position.
No way did hitting a bump with the wheel with no damage could cause this. Anyway, if that is the wear indicator (better known as the squealer) then that pad should have been on the inside. |
Thanks for the replies. Car seems fine to drive and didn't notice any issues with breaking. Will have it checked out when the car is due for inspection. Thanks again.
