Honda CRV
 

I have taken delivery of a new Honda CRV Diesel and when on the Motorway between 70 & 80 the steering wheel wobbles, i.e. wheel balancing etc but my local Honda dealer says this is normal and a trait of the CVR diesel model, i didn’t experience this on the test drive CRV so has any body else have the same problem.

Update to my wheel balance problem
Boston Honda have had the vehicle and carried out a four-wheel alignment, which has improved thinks enormously, and the NS front was out of balance.
There is still a very slight wobble between 70/80mph (nervousness) from the steering which the technician could not fully diagnose so will be asking Honda UK if they can shed any light on it.
I did drive one of their CRV’ s just delivered and that was the same if not slightly worse but the two demo CRV’ s I drove from Berkshire Honda dealers were perfect.
Just to keep thinks in perspective this is the only mechanical fault I can find the performance and handling for such a tall vehicle is very good, it does roll but the grip and brakes on the Diesel are excellent.
Only thing I can find wrong with the bodywork is the panel fit could be better, (not quite German yet) this is a tooling error, the workers do a good job aligning on the track but if the panel are out they are out. Not sure why they couldn’t align the rear door CRV badge straight with the bottom edge, will try and get the local dealer to sort out.

Hi,

MPG towing average is 28, solo is 36, thiscould be bettered with more conservative driving.

Overall driving performance is very good, the engine likes to be revved and is fairly smooth, you wouldn’t thick you’re always driving a fairly large high sided vehicle, the suspension and handling setup allows you to maximise the engines performance for a fairly sports car like experience (if you don't run out of talent).

Even the competition is getting better but the Honda has the overall edge all be it the wheel vibration problem I have which seems to be getting worse.

If it wasn’t for the wheel vibration from new I would be totally happy with this vehicle but sadly all too common the hype never lives up to reality, which has turned out to be the power of nightmares and not the power of dreams.

Honda dealers even when they know you are not happy still fob you off with it been down to the type of vehicle and the tyres even though the one you test drove felt new and smooth. You should not have a problem like this on a new vehicle if the manufacturer is serious about building a quality product.

I hope it’s got nothing to do with the fact that it’s built in the UK.

I will be looking to change soon, I will see what the competition has to offer now things have moved on now Honda has let its self’s down badly on my British built CRV.
