Question Honda dealer refuses to check the calipers

This is a crosspost from reddit:

- Dealer's report:
> Front pads have approx 7mm. Front rotors have grooves and a lot of rust. Rotors cannot be resurfaced. Brake pads have hard spots due to rust
- Independent shop repot:
> Slight metallic scraping type noise heard, brakes ok, recommend dealer, possibly warranty repair

About a year after I leased the car I started noticing short "grinding" metal-to-metal noise during brake release, both in forward and reverse. Did not affect braking though.
When it first happened I brought it to the dealer and the adviser, after taking a ride, confirmed that the braking was not affected. As to the noise he said it's normal on these cars. I didn't push the issue further as I intended to return the car at the end of the lease.

Now I'm planning to buy the car and want it to get repaired while it's still under warranty. However, this time around the dealer blames the rotors and brake pads. With caveat that they are perfectly normal for braking but worn down just enough to cause the noise. I know that it won't fix the noise as it was present when both rotors and pads were practically new. Additionally, a report from an independent shop from just 4 days ago says that both rotors and brake pads are fine, but recommend dealer check / warranty repair with respect to the noise as it's not normal. Dealer, of course, disregarded it.

Someone on CR-V's club forum suggested that lubricating backsides of the pads (and other components, as necessary) will likely fix. But my attempts to persuade the dealer to inspect the state of the brake system beyond the visual inspection of rotors and pads went nowhere. They offered to sell "Brake Quiet Kit" instead but couldn't even explain what it is.

On one hand, the dealer is refusing to do any warranty repair or diagnostics but insists on the replacement of the front rotors and pads ($835). On the other hand, proper diagnostics by an independent shop involves disassembly of the calipers ($400+) at which point they can just as well lubricate it.

Am I out of luck to get it properly diagnosed and repaired under warranty at the dealership at $0 cost to me?
