Question Low gas mileage

Hello, I own a 2016 CR-V with all-wheel drive and am getting low gas mileage. I'm getting about 17 miles driving in town and 22 miles on the highway. I maintain it very well, check the tire pressure, etc. I don't know any reason why my gas mileage is so low. I sure would appreciate any help you can give me. Should I take it to the dealer? I bought it new and have had it for 1.5 years. Thanks, Nancy

I've had my 2014 CR-V for less than a week, and I'm getting disappointing mileage as well. It's hovering around 19mpg, combined city/highway. Right now, I'm driving it like a bat out of heck because it's so much fun to drive fast, but I'm hoping the mileage will improve when I start to slow down.

Are you using the Eco button much?

Default Try being more gentle with the gas pedal

It may seem really annoying, and like a big change, but most bad feel economy comes from rapid acceleration and staying on the gas too long before you have to slow or stop.

Try driving like a grandma, and you will get better fuel economy. :-)

We were getting 38-40 mpg, but with cooler weather and winter tires it has dropped off. If it's new to you, driving habit could contribute. All city will keep it down also.

Default You're keeping up on all your regular maintenance, right?

Sometimes simple things like tire pressure can kill fuel economy. Also if you have a dirty air filter, dirty fuel filter, dirty throttle body, dirty engine oil, dirty fuel injectors, old spark plugs, old spark plug wires, dirty battery connections, misaligned wheels...all these things can eat gas.

Worn shocks/struts, or bad bushings can use fuel too.
