Potential 2024 CRV gasser buyer.

Introduction. I've owned a 2005 Pilot from new it's got 257K on it and purrs and shifts like new. It is costing me some high dollar repairs now and 18 mpg is killing me.
I'm contemplating buying a 2024 gas engine CRV.
The lack of a spare tire on the hybrids is a deal breaker for me.
I have a simple question: Do the 2024 gassers have a delete switch for the stall/start madness.
I figure it'll be temporary but I fear the government will force manufacturers to delete the delete feature.
If I get an older one I want to get one prior to the CVT trans.
Thank you. I've enjoyed you owner's experience and knowledge.

I thought only the hybrids had that start stop.

The hybrids don't have it I understand. For $38K the engineers couldn't find room for a space saver spare.

Yes, I just bought 2024 crv , non hybrid, and you can turn off the stall/start. What I'm unhappy with is the muffler was rusty when I brought it home. Approx 100 miles on the car and underneath is rusty...wondering if this is normal?

That happens to all of them in a short time.

Yep, you can turn off that start/stop engine feature on the 2024 gas models simply by punching a button the consol. However it will default to "ON" after the car is shut down.

BTW the hybrid has stop start (of the gas motor) too, but it is a result of the car switching to EV mode when it is stopped.

Hi there AZgman. I see you just joined and are responding to old posts where the OP is relatively long gone.

In the case of this thread, the OP used incorrect terminology for his Q.
The topic was actually “Idle Stop” and not “stall” or “stop” start.

Although the thread did stray into hybrid land, the topic of strong hybrid operation was never discussed.

The hybrid CR-V ICE stopping and starting has zilch to do with whether the vehicle is stopped or not. That is not how the computer controls the use of the ICE.

If you have Q’s on hybrid operation please do start a new thread with your poser and somebody will chime in with a response which as we know, may or may not be accurate.

BTW, what CRV do you have?

AZgman 03-01-2024 06:36 PM

I have a 2024 CR-V Sport-L and I am well aware how the ICE and EV mode work. My comment was kind of tongue-in-cheek regarding the start/stop.

You folks just trying to confuse an old man?
