Tips on replacing the Intake Air Temperature sensor on a '97 CRV

Hello,

I assisted my aunt with replacing the Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT sensor) on her 1997 CRV so I'd like to share a few quick installation notes with you guys. In the pantheon of automotive repair jobs, this one is relatively straight-forward and elementary so if you're sweating at the prospect of gnashing knuckles for hours on end during the repair job then fret not :D

First, disconnect the negative battery cable.

Then, detach the IAT sensors electrical connector.

Remove the sensor from the manifold (shown as ref #16 in this diagram)

Once the old sensor is removed, coat the new sensor threads with Teflon sealant.

After that, install the sensor into the intake manifold.

Next, attach the connectors on the IAT.

Last but not least, connect the negative battery cable.

All in all, the entire job took us about 45 minutes to perform but that was because we were working at a leisurely pace :)

Good luck everyone!
