how to choose tires (2002 Rebel 250)
Hi folks,
After many years and miles, I have worn down the front tire on my 2002 Rebel 250 to the point I should replace it. I visited my local shop and they gave several options in my size (3.00-18 47p) with really different tread patterns. I asked for their advice on how to select between them, but they pretty much said "they're different" and left me guessing! - Kenda K671 Cruiser Tire - Dennis Kirk - Bridgestone Front L303 3.00P-18 Blackwall Tire - 068888 Dirt Bike Motorcycle - Dennis Kirk - Avon Streetrunner AV83 Tires - RevZilla - ... plus a zillion other options for order on the internet, if I want to go that route. The current tire is a Bridgestone and the tread looks a lot like the 2nd option offered by my shop... but I am wondering if I would be happier on something different. I am a tentative rider, usually going 45 mph and no fancy moves. I'm physically small and light, although I often have gear with me. I ride on distressed highways (lots of potholes) and gravel roads. Our weather is usually damp and often outright pouring. What should I look for in a tire? What will these different tires feel like? Should I replace the rear tire at the same time, even though it doesn't need it? Thanks in advance for helping educate me! |
