Does any of the Labor costs seem repetitive here. Unfortunately I’m not well versed with repairs. I’ve had my Element since 2004 and would love to get at least 5 more years without any major damage to my wallet. I drive less than 5000k each year.
Two thousand in labor and less than a hundred for parts, this means the work is labor intensive. But, must remember that much of it could be them trying to drum up some business. Recommended is not the same as necessary. $662.40 labor for changing the oil pan gasket? What? Does it take four hours or more? At $165.60 per hour for 4 hours? Or is it $110.40 for 6 hours? Crankshaft front seal and timing cover gasket also takes 4 hours? Looks like you might have an oil leak? Labor also $662.40?
I would start thinking about looking for another garage to give and estimate before considering to have the work done. Better would be to learn to do some of this work yourself?
