Problem with my Element
I have an 03' Element, bought used in 05' with 12,000 miles at the time of purchase. Right now my Element has 66,0000 miles on it and I started having problems. My shocks and struts needed to be replaced....which I found to be shocking. I've read past blogs about this problem and Honda Of America has replaced them for people. When calling them Honda said that there was no recall. How many comlaints do they need before they realize that it is a problem?? I was saved by having an extended warranty...but without it I would have had to pay. Anyone have ideas on this problem and Honda's responsibilies???

welcome to the forum. I also have heard of the many suspension problems with the element, but have not found any recalls. May have to have lots of owners call in with complaints to have American Honda do something. We can advise all Element owners to have extended warranty's to save them so much in costs.

I got news most shock and strut manufacturers will tell you that you should replace your shocks and struts every 50,000 miles. So 66,000 miles is a good run. Most people don't replace them in any car and when they finally do they are like "OH WOW its feels like a new car again!!" I don't consider this to be recall worthy. The only time any company does a recall is when over all safety is compromised. Since the car is lighting itself on fire or accelerating out of control. this would likely just be a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) at the most.
