2008 Honda Fit will only push start in reverse after slamming on brakes.
My daughter has it 2008 Honda Fit. One day she slammed her brakes and the vehicle would start I checked all the normal things clutch pedal switch, fuses, wires going to the starter. It was late at night and she's was parked orward into the parking spot so I pushed her back she pop the clutch new vehicle started. I Immediately told to shut the vehicle off and try to restart it and everything worked fine for week until she slammed her brakes on again. Now the vehicle will only start when you push start it in reverse. Does anyone know what this problem could be?
The starter will work fine if power was sent to it and the battery is new and works well. I think a maybe a safty feature issue. |
That is weird. Never heard of a vehicle not start because one slammed on the brakes.
Ford's have an inertia switch which cut off fuel when in an accident. Honda does not, as far as I know I would go through the steps of a crank, no start Check spark Check fuel ECU 5 volt reference (sensors) etc. Wild guess is the fuel pump is somehow affected by the sudden stop????? Well, good luck and please let us know what the issue was. |
That's the thing no crank, solenoid noes no click. Nothing but everything's on in the vehicle then you just won't turn over.

You're saying that it is a no crank, no start?
That is a different issue altogether. What have you done to check it out? Clutch safety switch? Swap the start relay? Put in a wired remote start ... one end clips on the solenoid of the starter and the other end on the B+ of battery In the middle is a momentary switch, press on and engine should crank This eliminates all the other wiring to check if starter works Starter relay by pass test. This helps determine whether issue is in the control circuit or load side circuit Clean battery posts and cable terminals, grounding strap?? |
