CVT transmission fluid - Honda FIT
I was at the dealership and the service adviser said I should change my transmission fluid. I told them that the fluid was changed the last time the car was serviced. They found that on their computer system, however, they are telling me that the 2005 FIT (with CVT transmission) needs to have the transmission fluid changed on back-to-back services. They say it is because of a design flaw that does not allow all the transmission fluid to come out in a single change.
Personally, I think this is utter BS, but figured I would ask the pros and other people in the know on the forum. Please let me know if I am getting taken on this one. |
welcome to the forum. My understanding is if you change the fluid, only the fluid in the transmission pan gets changed, it takes approx 3 times to get all the fluid changed properly. If you flush the system, you are charged for about 22 qts of fluid, but it is done all at one change. (fluid in the torque converter is not changed in a pan fluid change)

So true. :D

When you drain the transmission repeatedly or a couple of different times you stand a better chance of fluid washing the junk out of the filter. The filter is not removable, there is no pan, and flushes won't do it either. Flushes are not good for anything. All the oil that comes out of the transmission is filtered by the internal filter in your transmission before going into the flusher. There is no such thing as back flushing, it is impossible.
