Smile Help! Paint issues with 2009 Honda Civic

I come to you with a big problem. A year ago, I noticed the top coat of paint deteriorating from the roof of my 2009 Honda. Then, it started on the trunk. It's now spread like a disease!! I got an estimate from
an auto body shop to have it painted....$3,000...which I simply cannot afford. This car only has 35,000 miles and is so worth hanging on to. Do you think I should contact Honda and see if they are familiar with such an issue. It's obvious this is a problem with that year Honda and nothing I've done?

Thanks for any input or advice!!

Sorry you are having an issue with the paint.
$3000 seems quite high to me but then again, I am not in the business of painting vehicles.
I would call around looking for a better price.

welcome to the forum. most paint shops to do a good job due to your paint is coming off, would charge about 3-5k. they would have to sand down to the primer or metal so this would not happen again. Honda did have a paint warranty extension TSB-14-034 7 years extension regardless of milage. yours is out of the 7 year period, but go to honda and let them make that call. they may go 50/50 due to out of time.

If I am not mistaken, there is am 100,000 mile warranty on corrosion, should cover paint.

I agree with acmeh52 the paint is contaminated and has to be removed not merely scuffed for painting. Check with Honda.
