To paint or not to paint.
I recently had someone smash the front of my car. I had a body shop estimate of 1200.00 to fix. When my fiancée took my car to a wash, a gentleman at the car wash fixed the dent for under 100.00 bucks. What was noticeably missing was the fog light cover. I ordered the piece and am wondering, is this something I can paint myself with a primer coat, base and top coat or am I better off taking it to a body shop? The plastic comes in black and my Honda Pilot color is Bali Blue.

paint them both black with plasti-dip or use vinyl wrap

@lowlife9... Why would I do that? If the car is blue, why would i paint them both black. What is plastic dip/ vinyl wrap.
|
because on most cars the fog light housings are matte black to match the rest of the black trim and painting them with matte black plasti-dip will be cheap and easy. if you don't know what plasti-dip or vinyl wrap is google it.

Thank you for the plastidip info. I googled as well as you tubed and it does look like a great alternative. Unfortunately, I would need to match the other fog cover which is a pearlized blue. Both housings are blue as well. So grateful for the info.:)

the beauty of plasti-dip is you can paint the housings while there still on the car taping is optional. people paint there lamborghini's, bentley's and ferrari's with plasti-dip then peel it off when they want a different color.

hello Honda people,
Check out these images. I wanted to do a self repair for a scratch on the rear door. After applying the primer spray, I used the paint spray for the same color code, and then a clear coat spray. The result went unespectedly dissapointing, since the final color and finished texture were by far equal to the original. any possible fixing suggestions? thanks!! |
