Replacing piston rings on my 2016 honda Odyssey LX
I am the original owner of my van, a 2016 Honda Odyssey LX with a little over 142000 miles . I plan to drive the van until at least 200000 miles (crossing fingers). The check engine light came on. The car was a little shaky. After taking it to AutoZone for a free diagnostic test, it detected a permanent misfire on the number 3 cylinder. I had a the #3 spark plug and coil replaced. The check engine light would not barge.
Took it to a Honda dealer, I was told that Honda is aware of this problem in older model Honda Odyssey models (2003-2011), and they are making repairs for free.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to why Honda would not give the privileges to all Honda Odyssey owners with the same issue? This repairs include replacing piston rings on the vehicle. I was quoted close to $5000 by the Honda dealer. I welcome any sound suggestions as I am still scratching my head as to how to go about this. Thanks

I was just told by the Honda dealership that I have to replace all my pistons and that it will cost around 5000. He did say Honda was aware of this issue and that they would be replacing the pistons with a newer material. Can you tell me if you ended up paying for your repair?
