'18 Civic Sport Hatchback USB flash drive playback
 

I'm on Honda # 17 - just picked up a new Civic Sport Hatchback. This IS my first Honda without a CD player. I used to run a record store so you can imagine the amount of music I have (that is not in mp3 or other digital format)

I"m trying to decide the best way to transfer files and play them in the new ride. I'm leaning toward getting a Tascam unit that records mp3's from CD and cassette (I have TONS of music stored on high quality cassette as well) direct onto USB flash drive. I'm not very computer literate and avoiding using it in this endeavor would be great.

My question is - does the USB port play the USB flash drive automatically, or does it require installing some kind of software on the drive to make it work? I saw this mentioned on an article I found online and wanted to check with the experts first!
