2004 Civic Headlamp Issue
I seem to have continued bad luck with headlamps on my Civic
A couple of months ago one of my hi-beams went out but I just kept forgetting that I needed to buy a new set. Finally the 2nd one went out and I ordered a new set on eBay. If you can't trust eBay, who can you just. Right?? So my son installed the new bulbs, verified that the old ones were blown and turned on the lights. Nothing! We looked in the owners manual for a fuse that controlled the hi-beam, but couldn't find anything. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? I find it hard to believe that a set of bulbs straight out of the box could be bad? Thanks in advance for any and all help. |
Welcome to the forum, first make sure the bulb socket is snapped in securely, check fuses again some times they look good but are in fact blown, good luck.

Sorry, my original post stated that we could not locate any fuses specific for the headlights. We found both the fuse box under the hood and the one under the dash. None of them were listed as high beam or low beam. Any suggestions?

It could possible be the switch.Honda had a problem with that switch but it did not apply to every civic out there. Check with your vin # online or go to a Honda dealer and see if your civic is one of them. Anyway back to the switch, if you remove the steering column cover and you see the switch connector and on the top you see a red /white wire that looks like melted that's the problem you need a new wire , connector and the switch. If not, look at the bulb connector and check for power and ground , see which one you are missing. Power comes from the fuses and the relays, ground from the switch to the multiplex unit to the head lights. Good luck , Hope it helps.

Just check fuse again and again. It is the delicate one. they may look good but actually they got blown up easily.

Thanks ianclarkson55.
Problem is we've looked for the fuse, both under the hood and under the dash. We haven't been able to find any labeled as High Beam. Can you tell me where to look or how it's labeled? The owners manual wasn't any help in identifying it either. thx Dan |
