Default 2006 honda civic mystery-comminication interface module

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!

my 2006 civic wouldnt start last week. no one could figure out why it wasnt starting, computer could not even scan it. they tried all the related wiring and they were grounded and had power. they find out that the Communicatio Interface Module was not responding-but honda had no answers why the CIM might fail. they are working on it now and said they might find more when they fix that.

my questions are:
Does anyone know why the Communicatio Interface Module would fail in a fairly new car?

by the way the car was in a bad head on collision this april. engine harness, 3 engine coils, battery, AC had to be replaced.

Do you have any ideas why the accident may have caused this so my insurance will pay?

welcome to the forum. After reading about the HIM, it is not a very easy item to work on, The only way this may have all gone bad is that there was a bad short during the accident and shorted all the brains of the car. to change a harness and coils, is a bad short. Hope there might be someone on this forum that may shed some light on this.

The short occurred because they did not use a grounding nut. The shop that messed up was not a honda dealer. The honda dealer needed to fix it. Moral of the story; take your car to a honda dealer especially when your insurence is paying for the damage anyway.
