2007 Accord V6 serpentine belt chirping
OK, so long story. I had my timing belt done a little over a year ago. After that my serpentine belt started squealing/chirping. The mechanics "fixed it" but the noises came back within weeks. Drove the car across country and had another mechanic look at the problem. They replaced the S belt and tensioner and noises stopped. Noises returned in several weeks. Took the car back and they replaced the belt again under warranty. Fine for awhile and noises returned. Drove car back to CA and had mechanic who did the timing belt look at it again. They redid the belt and tensioner again and said the tensioner had been loose. Of course the sounds came back. It sounds like I have a flock of birds under the hood. Any ideas why this can't be really fixed? Since this all started after timing belt change, could it be that the independent mechanics are not using real Honda parts? Any help or suggestions would be soooo appreciated. Many thanks.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the noises stop after the car is warmed up and driven for a few miles. Thanks again. |
They need to check the alignment of the pulleys. You can do it with a yardstick.
