2013 CRV Cam position sensor replacement?
 

Had the EPS, VSA, TPMS and eng light all come on at once in our 2013 CRV EX-L (130k miles). It starts and drives normally. It's showing a P0341 code and all online resources seem to point to 1) Voltage and 2) Timing chain or associated parts. Ruled out a battery or voltage problem and it seems like a lot of people who took theirs in for the timing chain ended up with a huge bill and the same recurring problem. So my thought was to start small & replace the cam sensors. Maybe it's just me but why does there seem to be an absence of youtube's covering CRV Gen 4 cam sensor replacements?

Anyone have a link to a Cam Pos sensor swap for a Gen 4 CRV?

Hi, Did you ever get this properly diagnosed and solved? I have the p0341 with dashboard xmas tree lights on, same as you and I was going to take it in monday to get new sensors + have the tech look at the timing chain to see if it looks stretched? thanks

Advanced Diagnostics-DTC P0341: Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor A and Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Incorrect Phase Detected

Camshaft position (CMP) sensor A detects the intake camshaft timing and sends pulsing signals to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM determines the advance or the retard of the camshaft timing according to the signals from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and CMP sensor A. If the pulse deviates from a set range over a specified time period while the variable valve timing control (VTC) is not activated, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold

The gap between the timing of the CMP sensor A pulse and the middle of the CMP sensor A assembly is 10° or more for at least 4.0 seconds.

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

- CMP sensor A poor installation
- Intake camshaft or timing belt poor installation
- CMP sensor A failure
- VTC actuator failure

Confirmation Procedure

With the HDS
None.

With the Driving Pattern
Start the engine, and let it idle. When the diagnosis does not finish, allow the engine cool to an engine coolant temperature of ambient temperature, then restart the engine, and let it idle.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
