my honda civic idles high then low over and over again.....any suggestions as to what may be causing this problem? I just gave it a tune up and even changed the distributer but the problem continues.

welcome to the forum. If the engine is cold, it would be the idle control valve, if it is warm it can be the throttle positon sensor or the map sensor.

Welcome to the forums. no the idle air control valve is fairly cheap and easy to replace.. a map sensor usually goes bad because its dirty and you can clean it with map sensor cleaner and it will be fine for a while..
