Default adding coolant to 2010 Honda Civic LX

On February 24, the dealer checked my car's fluid levels, and, since then, I have noticed that the level of coolant in the reservoir was low, so I bought a gallon of Honda coolant and added enough to bring up its level to just below the upper mark on the reservoir.

I noticed that the Honda manual says to change coolant at the Service 5 level. My car presently has about 13,xxx miles on it. Can anyone say when the Service 5 level comes due on a 2010 Honda LX because I'm not planning on taking my car in just for a low coolant level in the reservoir -- unless it's indicated to take it in for this.

welcome to the forum. service 5 is about the 5th oil change. approx 35k miles (est from oil life approx 7500 miles to 20% oil life) or each 2 years. upper mark on the resevoir is when the fluid is hot and not cooled down to return to the radiator. now when it gets hot, it may overfill the reservoir. (do not open the radiator cap when its hot!!)

Default low-mileage exception?

The manual doesn't mention a low-mileage exception for changing the coolant although it does mention a low-mileage exception for changing the oil (which is once/year). At the rate I presently drive, my Honda won't have 35k on it for another 10 years.

The manual for my '96 Honda specified a timing belt change when the vehicle was seven years old -- regardless of its mileage.)

(I don't think my driving falls under the "severe conditions" category.)
