I have a 07 honda civic couple lx and my ignition is not turning when I put the key in. I need more suggestions before I buy a 500 dollar part and it be a easier fix. It's a Manuel so the part I've been told is expensive and has to be special ordered

 

welcome to the forum. have you tried your spare key, and also try another dealership for cost estimate.

 

I've tried several places they all keep telling me that I have to buy the whole ignition kit. And no the key I have is the only one me and the dealer I am buying it from has. I tried taking the key to honda but they said they need my car to program it to my car. But see I can't afford all the little extra crap like getting it towed anywhere. I'm not getting any other answers from anyone besides the lock cylinder said it should only cost 50 bucks so I have a mobile mechanic hopefully coming to to look at it tomorrow......

 

i have a 07 Fit, the key was getting sluggish to open and start the car, the spare key opened the door and started the car with no problem also the valet key. so i took the key in with the car, cost 90.00 for the key, 50.00 to program the new key, 40 for a new drivers door lock, it was going bad. hope your mobile mech can fix the car for a reasonable amount.

 

Call the parts department and ask if they can program a key for your car using the VIN. You can do that on some makes.
