Default Car Turns over but does not turn on.

My girl has a 1996 Honda Civic DX automatic she was backing up when the car shut off and never started again. The car sounds like it is going to start but nothing.

I pushed in the spark plug wires to see if maybe they were loose ,but no luck.

I know its hard to diagnose on the internet but does anyone have an idea of what it might be?

Aloha jimbojam: Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay, and we might be able to assist you.Providing that your timing belt did not skip or break, then it may be the following items... distributor, fuel pump, worn spark plugs, main relay, ecu burned. How many miles since the last timing belt change?

might want to check your timing belt to see if it skipped or broke, easy to take the cover off and view with a flashlight and mirror.
