I have a 91 accord, 2 dr, lx. A while back I started my car, and the check engine light came on, and I didn't see or find any problems. When I started driving, I step on the gas a little bit and it seems like the car is wanting to red line a 3500 rpms. Even in park I can rev it and this is happening. Sometimes I can start it with no problem, until a mile or 2 down the road the engine dies and the check engine light is on again, and like before the car won't rev over 3500. You can see how this might be irritating. Any suggestions?

 

can you turn the car on and jsut give it a quick rev just a slight tap and see if it dies? and tell me about that. Check the sparkplugs, and check if your using all of your cylinders. I had this problem and it turned out a blew a head gasket, valve seals and oil rings were all messed up and i was operating on 2 of 4 cylinders reaching a max speed of 50km/h. Often times it died while i was driving, so check those and get back to me.
