Door lock actuator trouble
 

The tailgate door lock actator randomly fails to unlock with the remote. I assumed the switch to be failing and ordered a replacement part. I tested it before installing it and had a problem with it also. The “unlock” button flipped the lever, the “lock” button did not move it back, although I could hear the mechanism getting current.

Question: Is it likely the new part is defective, or could there be a problem with the wiring harness, or other parts in the system?

Note: All other door locks behave correctly, locking and unlocking on command

The solenoid may be getting weak.
