Engine Problem With 1997 Accord 4 cylider

I've got a 97 Accord four cylinder automatic. The problem I have is that the engine cuts off while your driving it and you have to pull over put it in park then turn the ignition overin order to restart it. It is not throwing an engine code and the lights do not turn off or the engine does not sputter when it cuts out. I recently changed the battery and the spark plug wires but am still having this problem. I kinda think it might have something to do with the fuel pump or the ignition coil. Can someone help me and please be specific. Thanks.

RE: Engine Problem With 1997 Accord 4 cylider

I’m no expert to this but let me try to figure it out…I have experienced the same problem when I think my Saab fuel pump malfunctioned. But I think the solution with your car is to "replace the distributor", these engines are known to have this problem caused by either signal generator or pickup coil failures, parts are not available so the distributor assembly has to be replaced; the ones from the dealer are real expensive, try your local auto parts store for an aftermarket part. If it works, let me know…tnx and good luck…
