Hello everyone this is my first thread on this forum and i have a question about the 5th gen honda prelude SH model.I really want one of these cars and have found a seller and he claims the engine comes with a "japanese type s engine red top swap". ive looked at other listings and have seen SH preludes with black engine cover tops and wanted to know if all 5th gen preludes offered in the U.S came with only black engine tops. I want to make sure hes not trying to bs me to get a higher price. Also is there any certain code i can look for on the engine that tells me it is from japan or from a japanese model car? thanks

 

welcome to the forum. check the vin and it will give you info where and when the vehicle was made, get the code or block number and check to see what year or model the block is from if anything has been changed ask the owner to produce the paperwork to verify. i can purchase a car from anywhere and tell you it was a si or a red badge honda, i need to produce paperwork to verify what is say is true. if in doubt i would normally pass. also if any part of the engine or vehicle has been changed or up graded and there are not paperwork to verify, police will also ask where did you steal these parts from.
