how to change 98 accord v6 alternator?

How do I loosen the alternator belt on my 1998 accord vtec 3.0 ?
What is the tensioner and how do I move it?
Do I have to use a torque wrench to re-tighten the belt after I put it back on?
Thanks,

Rico

loosen the tensioner to remove the belt. the tensioner can be viewed on hondaautomotiveparts.com go to your year and make and parts diagram. If you intend to do a lot of maintenance on your car, get a helms manual, you can save a lot of money and get a lot of info. the manual will pay for itself many times over.

torque wrench

do I need to use a torch wrench to re-tighten the belt after installing the new alternator?

I do not see using a torque wrench in the instructiions. but all nuts and bolts have a specific torque, so if you plan to remove bolts, read the specific torque and tighten. If you have been doing this for a long while, you will know approx how tight to make the bolts and nuts. If you are new, use the torque wrench to not break anything.
