Default jerky automatic gear shift engagement

I have a 1997 Honda Civic, automatic. It's been a great car, never had problems till this week. When I step on the gas I'm getting a jerky automatic gear shift engagement. It only happnes when I'm driving in D4, I tried driving in D3 and I get the smooth ride that I'm use to. Break it to me, am I in for a major repair?

Depending on the mileage, I would bring it in and have the transmission flushed. Maybe also have the fluid filter changed. Usually from that a mechanic can tell you if your having any internal transmission problems. (i.e., he might find metal shavings when he gets the oldfluid/filter out or fluid may appear burnt). This fluid keeps your transmission lubricated and working properly. Over time, just like regular motor oil, it needs to be changed. I had an accord with a similar problem and found out the forward clutch was failing. Hopefully you just need to change up the fluid. Usually you can notice the difference immediately. Also, if possible, make sure you have it done at a honda dealership. If im not mistaken, hondas require specific, honda approved transmission fluid. Good luck.

I've got 193,000 Km on the car. I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been flushed. Oops!!
I appreciate your input.
I guess I'll be doing that this week. I've always enjoyed my car, but driving like this is annoying.
