New to the board General???
Shopping for a used car. Interested in several Honda models and the engine longevity is one of the major factors. I have noticed on many listing water pumps being replaced. Is this a common issue for Honda engines? I'v replaced water pumps before when I was a kid in the 80's (mostly on V-8's) so I am not completely intimidated by the task. However, never done work on a Honda. If this is a common issue how challenging. I certainly don't mind getting my hands dirty. Thanks in advance.

welcome to the forum. If you purchase a honda with a timing belt, then when the belt is changed, the waterpump is changed also because of the location of the belt and pump in the same area. also change the crank and cam oil seal to prevent oil seep in the future. the newer model hondas timing belt change is 90-112k miles. the older models 60k i think the year change is about 98. always ask when buying a used honda when the timing belt was last changed if they have a timing belt. milage on a honda engine can go up to 500k. I have one now with 300k and runs strong. (02 civic)
