New Shocks/Struts?
I have a 1999 Honda Odyssey with 133k miles on it and wondering if new shocks/struts would help prolong the life of the vehicle? We have had this van since it was new and I like to keep up with regular maintenance. Any comments?
Thanks, -scott |
RE: New Shocks/Struts?
welcome to the forum flexdog1: enjoy your stay. Changing shock/struts helps with the handling of the van, also lessens the stopping distance, and keeps your tires on the ground better. Shock/struts are normally changed 50k miles. type to get, would be oem or better. performance type not needed, I don't beleive you take your van to the 1/4 mile races. but if you carry a lot of family and do a lot of city driving, the new shocks will help a lot. Also alignment will save your tires a bit more.

ACMECH52,
Thanks for the reply, and I like the Bible reference in your tag... Will we notice a difference in ride quality with new shocks/struts? It isn't bad now, but I think we have just gotten used to the ride over the last 10 years. Thanks for your help. -scott |
RE: New Shocks/Struts?
Yes, the ride will feel a bit more stiff, and when you come around a turn, it will sway less. It should also have a shorter stopping distance.Steering feels better.
Thank you for your kind words |
