octane boost good for spark knock????
 

So I posted a thread about spark knock or detonation about a week ago and one thing that was suggested to me by a guy I know is octane booster, will this help and will it hurt my motor once it gets rid of the octane booster? Once again this is very important because this is my daily driver and I have to start commuting to a city an hour away every month for school, so...ANY input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

your car supposed to have a knock sensor to prevent it, adjusting the timing would help also.

Yeah that's the hard thing though, the guy who did the swap closed his shop down, so I'm not sure about the details of the swap, whether he hooked EVERY little thing up or not is beyond me. I plan on adjusting the timing/valves but I don't have the time or the money right now, times are tough, so does anybody know if that would be safe for my car? octane booster that is. Thanks again.

ACmech52 is absolutely right, Hondas don't knock unless they ahve been fooled with or setup incorrectly.

Your timing is too far advanced and is causing alot of damaging to your engine and probably over heating alittle too.

if you are tight on hiring a mechanic, then make a scratch mark between the distributer and the mounting ear for the distributor to give you a refernce point. lossen the mounting nuts and turn the distributer clockwise firt and see if the idle drops alittle, if it does then you are heading in the right direction. If not, go the other direction. Try this in small small increments and see if it gets rid of your engine knock. a small increment is like less than 5 degrees at a time.
