Odometer protection

How easy is it to mess with an odometer on a Honda? Or is there certain things that come into play when trying to change the odometer reading? I just bought a 2009 Honda Accord that only has 53,000k on it (that would be 32,932mi for our American friends) and a friend of mine is trying to tell me that there is no way that it's that low without someone messing with the odometer. Now I realize it has low miles for it's age compared to the average 2009 car, but it's not unheard of. Plus I told him I'm sure Honda doesn't make it that easy for someone to just turn back the odometer. Also, I went by the shape of the interior, exterior and underneath the car, which was in amazing good shape. Thanks for any help.

welcome to the forum. anyone who wants to fool with the speedometer can do it or change it. you did the best check of looking at everything possible to indicate the actural miles. there are cars who's owners just go shopping down the block and back. even the car fax are not that accurate. just have to view the car and drive it to really check it.

Check to see if any repair receipts were left anywhere ,glove box or under a seat maybe that could give a clue,or look at the wear on the brake / clutch pedal.
