oil level

our 1997 Honda crv manual reads that you should not have the oil level above the second mark.

we get the oil change at a Honda dealer.
after a few days of non use when I check the level it is always above the top hole.
ideas anyone?
thanks

If its a tad over its not a big deal but if it looks like a bottle
has been added then definatly should be drained out too much oil
is not good for seals and gaskets on an engine.

it needs to be directly on the second hole beyond that is too much this is the reason i do my own oil changes. considering how much the dealer charges for an oil change you would think they'd take the extra step to do things correctly. i would expect that from a quick lube business not a honda dealer but i quess it ultimately comes down to the individual person performing the oil change. i guess thats what you can expect considering they usually give that job to the trainees. even so if they screwed that simple job up what else did they screw up the oil filter or maybe the drain plug ???

Just a heads up. Oil creeps up the dipstick as it sits a long while. Oil should be checked after a short run.

The oil level a little over the 2nd hole is not much, if you're in doubt, take it to the dealer and they will say the same, if not they will drain a bit out. Since they serviced the vehicle.

thats to much i would loosen the drain plug and let a little out. overfilling can be just as bad as underfilling.
