Returning check engine light - Please help!!

I have a 98 Civic 4-door LX 1.6L. After returning from a long trip to Pennsylvania from Atlanta (about 1700 miles), I started my car up the next day to find the check engine light on. I immediatly tightened up the gas cap and made several trips that day, however the MIL was still on the next day.
I used an OBDII code reader which gave P0135 -- O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1). I bought a Bosch pre-cat O2 sensor from NAPA, put it in, and the light was still on. I let it run for a while, but the guy I was working with erased the code using the reader while the car was heating up. The light (MIL) went away and stayed off for 4 days. Now, the code reader is giving the same code again.
Is the time that the code is erased important? Is the sensor bad? I've made plenty of trips in those 4 days. Please help!!

Thank you,
Confused.

If it was my car I would use a Honda H02S.If that doesnt' fix it the circuit needs checked or it could be a possible PCM problem.

try disconnecting the battery wires for about 3 to 4 minutes and connect it back , start the car leave it running and see if the engine light will go back..:)

This is what i came across before on a honda oddessy F23Z engine 2001 model ...

I did replace the o2 sensor yet still happen again , i erased the fault code and even try disconnecting the battery terminal yet... the warning engine light aluminates.

Try check if there's another sensor before the catalic converter if there is replace em ..!!

I have a problem with my 1998 Accord "engine light" coming on and staying on. I recently carrie the vehice to Autozone which diagnoised the problem to be an EGR valve ($75.00). I replaced the valve, and the engine continues to come on. Now the suggestion from Autozone is to replace the MAP sensor (another $70.99 fee). Are there any suggestions to correct this problem?

if it were me i would take the map sensor out and see the condition it is in.. sometimes they go out due to excessive build up.. if thats the case a can of MAP sensor cleaner (8$) should do the trick
