short shifter in crx

short shifter in crx
was wondering if anyone could explain how to put a short shifter into a crx. its an 88. i thought that i could just ake the center console out and do it for the inside, but i came to a dead end. can anyone explain how to take out the old and put in a new. thanks for any help that may come
